For the Love of the Arts

Mission Statement

“To promote and provide performing arts to those unable to go out and experience it themselves”

What We Provide

For the Love of the Arts is a volunteer based organization that provides free performing art shows at various retirement homes, hospitals, Veteran centers  and organizations in the Fresno and Clovis Community.  Our shows are approximately thirty minutes long and may consist of singing, dancing, acting, and instrumental music. In addition to performing shows requested from the community throughout the year, we perform a holiday themed show in December, a love themed show in February, and a patriotic themed show in May.

About the Founder

For the Love of the Arts was created by Emily Pofahl, then a high school senior and  Girl Scout. Emily created For the Love of the Arts as a community outreach program for her Gold Award Girl Scout service project. Emily saw a need for inclusiveness in the community and knew that need could be met through the performing arts. Emily noticed that some people in many retirement homes, hospitals and Veterans’ centers were not getting very much attention or entertainment from the rest of the community. She discovered that occasionally,  some of the people in those living communities could feel neglected because they are not able to go out as much as they used to, or whenever they wanted to. So, she decided to bring the entertainment to them.

For the Love of the Arts is about more than just performing. We strive to create a feeling of inclusiveness that stretches to all members of our community. We are firm believers in the idea that music has healing powers. Music can improve mood, soften the harshness of depression, trigger memories, and reduce stress and anxiety. Everyone deserves to feel healthy and loved, and For the Love of the Arts was created so that could be possible.
